The Enemy Is Real—But He’s Not in Control

We have a real enemy.
But he is NOT all-powerful.

The Bible describes Satan as a deceiver, a liar, and a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Yet, too many believers either ignore the reality of spiritual warfare or obsess over it to the point of fear. The truth is, we are in a battle—but it’s not a battle we fight alone.

Jesus has already won the victory.

At the cross, every scheme of the enemy was exposed and disarmed.

“Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
—Colossians 2:15 (NIV)

So, why do we still feel under attack?

Because the enemy’s tactics are rooted in deception, if he can get us to agree with his lies, he can steal our peace, our purpose, and our identity.

Lately, I’ve seen shame showing up in new ways.

It whispers:

  • “You’re disqualified.”
  • “God can’t use you after that.”
  • “Look at your past.”

But shame is a liar. And Jesus already carried that shame to the cross.

The enemy may be real, but he is not in control.

When we expose the lies and declare God’s truth, we shut the door on shame and walk in freedom. That’s what this month is about: choosing truth over torment, strategy over sabotage, identity over insecurity.

You were never meant to live under the weight of your past.
You were created to walk in boldness, authority, and peace.

So this week, let’s declare it together:

  • I recognize the enemy’s schemes, but I don’t bow to fear.
  • I am forgiven, redeemed, and empowered.
  • My past has no power over my purpose.

Let the enemy rage—God is still on the throne.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where have I believed the enemy’s lies about my identity or purpose?
  2. What truth from God’s Word do I need to declare over my life this week?
  3. How can I shift from reacting to the enemy’s attacks to resting in God’s authority?

Prayer

Father, thank You for the victory of the cross. I confess any place where I’ve partnered with shame, fear, or the lies of the enemy. I receive Your truth today. Remind me who I am in You—redeemed, restored, and called. Help me walk in the authority You’ve given me, knowing that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. In Jesus’ name, amen.
